John Wayne Airport Newport Beach Hyatt Hotel

Great hotel, very nice and clean. As you would expect from a Hyatt property. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Their gym was better than most places and we were able to get a decent workout in. We will definitely stay again.

We had a great room and we had the breakfast buffet in the morning. The breakfast was delicious but I thought the price was a little high at $30 pp. my only complaint was the bed in our room was terribly uncomfortable. The bed felt hard and there were depressions where your body sank in the middle. The workout room was clean and the equipment was perfectly adequate. I chose the Precor Treadmill and chose a 1 hour hilly walk/jog.

The exterior and interior of this hotel felt very low-quality, more like a 2-star than a 4-star property. The furniture, including the chairs, tables, and bed, was very basic. Front desk staff, particularly Xamantha, was disrespectful when I asked twice for help finding the escalator, as there were no signs. Additionally, no breakfast was included, and they charged $30 for open parking, which doesn't feel worth it. The room had a cheap LG TV with a remote that barely worked, and most channels were filled with commercials—no free channels to watch. There was also no welcome drink or even complimentary water. It seems like the hotel is more focused on making money than on providing good service and comfort to guests. Very disappointed and would not recommend—better to choose a smaller hotel over this brand.

I would like to review this hotel higher. Unfortunately this location misses big time on critical policies for a safe and secure stay. We stayed for two nights, and we extended our stay for out third night to find out they removed my name, and changed the room's name to my girlfriends; I was locked out of this room, lost personal belongings, etc. I was told for security purposes, the guest was needed to renew keys. Where was this at 7AM? This is extremely dangerous. In addition to this, it;s very important to know this change was made at 7AM, before my 11AM checkout. Under no circumstances, should they have been able to change, remove, or modify my stay, regardless of any relationships (family, etc.) My second mistake was reasoning with them, as we needed to stay in the area again. We were given discounts, free buffet. Their promise was to rectify the billing after checkout. After we finally checked out ,we were charged normal rates, all additional fees, etc. I am now deciding between disputing charges or working with this hotel, which seems to only have managers when they need or want to communicate with you. To repeat, their service otherwise is okay and expected. There is no way to review them higher with the issues and changes I had to make to my important trips.

We stayed 4 nights my wife and our 2 small children. Room was very adequate with many charging ports for your electronic devices. The tv has a feature where you can link your subscription apps to view shows and still use your phone without interruption. Bathroom is larger than most hotels I’ve stayed at enough space for my wife and I and one of our small children to all use comfortably. There’s 2 shower heads one of which is handheld which was great for giving our smallest child a shower. Location felt safe. Unfortunately no microwave in the room, there is a mini fridge that worked very well. There’s complimentary fruit infused water in the lobby that’s very delicious. Front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. My wife forgot her toothbrush and they kindly provided a complimentary disposable toothbrush and toothpaste kit. There appeared to be a restaurant but we never used it or walked near it to see what they offer. Parking was $30 per night which I didn’t like paying but they do offer valet although there was plenty of nearby parking when we returned for the evening around 6-7p. There’s a round table with a chair you can eat at and there’s a built in floating desk with a chair you can do work at. The chairs had crumbs in the cracks which was nasty but that was the only complaint I had and should’ve mentioned it to the staff. You need your room key to use the elevator which is a nice safety feature. It’s near an airport so you may hear the planes it didn’t seem to bother us much. Overall we have a good experience and would stay again.
