Hotel Zessa Santa Ana – a DoubleTree by Hilton

Came here last minute after I had booked a different hotel across the street that had weird stains on the bed / a bad smell and was totally relieved to see how nice this hotel was!! Definitely a luxury hotel experience at a surprisingly low price point. I appreciated how nice the amenities are, with coworking spaces in the lobby, a nice yoga studio and gym. The rooms were tastefully decorated, modern and updated, and clean. Although breakfast was not included, this was a great overall experience. Would definitely come back here.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel, considering it is an airport hotel. Room was very nice, clean and comfy. Shower was updated. Staff were very friendly. Hotel was quiet and felt safe. They even let my niece park in the temporary parking area while she ate dinner with me. Will definitely stay here again when traveling through SNA.

We've stayed here numerous times, hilton honors member and diamond status. We tried to book a room here and the guy at the front desk (dark, slim, bald, laxy eye), super UN friendly, UN welcoming, was very rude. No cars in the parking lot. He told us room rate was $158, which was great. Then said $30 for parking. Told him we've stayed here numerous times and never been charged parking. He said we've always charged parking. I didnt tell him that there were no cars in the parking lot. We left. There's other hotels in the area.

Hotel Zessa Santa Ana has a lot going for it, but it falls short of expectations considering the price and the DoubleTree brand’s reputation. The property has clearly undergone recent renovations, and overall, the look is modern and appealing. However, I did notice small details that were missed during the update—like minor paint splatters on door frames and trim. These cosmetic issues aren’t deal-breakers but do detract from the upscale experience they aim to provide. The beds were another downside for me. They’re on the firmer side, and despite calling ahead to inquire, I was told they don’t offer mattress toppers. I found this surprising given the hotel’s level and the price per night. For guests who need a softer sleeping surface, this might be a significant drawback. The on-site restaurant offers decent food, but it is quite expensive, even for a hotel. While I don’t mind paying for quality, the pricing seemed a bit high for what was offered. Lastly, the staff were generally friendly, but I had an odd interaction over the phone before my stay that felt less welcoming than expected. Overall, it’s a good hotel but could benefit from small improvements to fully meet the expectations set by its brand and price.
