Sandpiper Motel

Older room, not really remodeled. Had a gas stove, which was nice, really small fridge raider for being a tall refrigerator. A little worn down with some holes and other stuff that probably could be replaced. It’s great for when you are in between trying to find a place, and trying to save a little bit of money so you can cook, instead of living in a hotel with no cooking Options.

Sandpiper motel is scary. Slept there two nights and payed in cash. Deposit was 50$ because of that. On check out day, the scary huge clerk with long hair in a pony, stuttered, that there was no deposit. And refused to give it to us. Of course we questioned it, me and my boyfriend. Not angry, only questioning. Result. Clerk called police and told us to step of his property. I wish this bad review scares enough people, so that the result will be, less clients. I lost my 50$, I hope no one else gets ripped off. And! They claim they have wifi. But actually. The speed is non existing and internet doesn't work even if you log in to their wifi. My boyfriend had to work our morning no2, and he ended up driving to McDonald's at 7am to have his job meeting. Just so frustrating. So I have one thing to say. Sandpiper staff and hotel are liers. Also, very shady and dirty rooms.

Big beautiful room, but the layout was terrible! Big fridge with 4-burner stove. No clock/radio, lamp didn't work (yes, I switched bulbs)! Socket near stove didn't work and even though the sign says breakfast and ESPN/HBO, there was none of the former and the latter was sketchy! The TV has 4-digit channels and both stations reception had 60s era, rabbit-ear type pictures! We had a handicapped-styled shower that wet up the whole floor --- YUCK! 3 days for $300, we won't be back, and the clientele was filthy! Every time we left to go out, somehow cigarette butts were always in front of our door! So instead of a 3 . . . this place gets a 2! But the staff tried their best and were very responsive!!

*Update* Finally got one of the rooms the other reviews warned about after staying here multiple times! There are nice rooms here, but there are also very outdated rooms that have uncomfortable beds and seem far dirtier that others. These rooms do have a tendency to have roaches crawling around and the bathrooms are (at least to me), not only outdated, but disgusting. Guest and I really enjoyed the stay. The reviews concerned us and I thought it would be a terrible stay, but it ended up being a great location. This hotel is close to a lot of places (within walking distance). The room itself was clean and the beds/sheets looked clean. The room was spacious and had a sitting area as well as a kitchenette. The kitchenette included the small sink, mini fridge, and microwave. The bathroom was also up-to-date and had no issues with water/plumbing. My interactions with the staff were really positive. They were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if in the area.

We originally had reservations at another hotel and that turned out to be a complete fiasco since they overbooked and had no rooms for anyone (several different groups) with reservations. We immediately started looking for another place and came across this one. Roland at the front desk that night was extremely helpful and got a room. He even gave us a discount because of what this other hotel had done. When we got into the room we were pleased. The room was clean and it even had a kitchen, even though we never used it. Location is easy access to the beach and to the fair grounds. I would recommend staying here.
