Holiday Inn Express & Suites Costa Mesa, an IHG Hotel

As an IHG member, I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. There was no greeting or welcome upon check-in, which set a negative tone right from the start. I stayed for 5 days, and not once did the front desk staff acknowledge or interact with us. They seemed more focused on their phones than providing any form of customer service. The hotel was undergoing construction, but we were not informed about it at the time of booking. The noise and smell from the ongoing work were unbearable and made the experience very unpleasant. Additionally, the "breakfast" area was a joke – just a table with a few paper bags. The coffee was lukewarm and tasted as if it had been left over from the previous night. To make matters worse, the AC and bathroom vent fan in the room were extremely noisy, consistently exceeding 72dB, according to my Apple Watch. Imagine trying to sleep in a room with that level of noise every night. It was impossible to relax. I also completed the survey they sent me and shared my concerns. The response was shocking – they stopped cleaning my room after I submitted my feedback, and it wasn't until my check-out that the room was finally cleaned again. I expected much more from an IHG property, and this experience was a letdown from start to finish. I do not recommend staying here unless you enjoy poor service, noise, and a lack of basic amenities.

The hotel is under construction. I would guess coporate greed to be the only reason they don't shut down during renovations. Hamming starts at 7am sharp. No hot breakfast. Location is next to a freeway and a trailer park. Really nothing good about this place.

My problem..wake up calls By hammers and drills every morning at 7a.m. Breakfast..not really cold bagel bottle of water in lunch bag.No toasters.Was supposed to have full breakfast nothing hot. Chemical smells everywhere glues, fuel,tiles being cut. Sharing elevators will materials that smelled. No front Entrance..had to find it in a side door..Luckily I saw movement. Pros..cleaning women nice.porter very nice.. Major con..vomit in elevator not cleaned up.It was cardboard and giant stinky puke spots.Horrible. Too loud too smelly not a 8 day vacation STINKY AND LOUD

The British gentleman that works the breakfast buffet (I apologize I didn't catch his name!) made our stay absolutely wonderful! He was so joyful and kind. Gave us wonderful recommendations on activities and super fun conversations every morning. My family looked forward to seeing him during our morning routine. The housekeeping staff were phenomenal as well. The rooms were clean and inviting. The hotel itself was close to the freeway, local stores, just 15 minutes from Huntington Beach and just 20-30 minutes to Disneyland. We will definitely be staying again!

Do not stay at this Holiday Inn location. When I booked my stay here a few months ago, there was no mention of ongoing construction at this hotel on the website. When I arrived, I was informed that they would be turning off water access from 10 AM to 5 PM for one day only. That was then extended to two additional days. When the water was turned back on, there was no hot water available. When I brought this up to the staff, there was no solution provided. On the weekend of my arrival, there was repeated honking for several minutes at 1 AM outside my window. During the week, I went to look for the complimentary breakfast during the scheduled meal time and there was no food available or set up. The one redeeming factor was that the staff were friendly and understanding.
